Magic Sile, where wonder flows

The area is included in the Continental Biogeographical region; it stretches along an east-west axis, almost entirely located in the south-western portion of the Treviso province, except for a small area in the province of Padua. It encompasses a vast portion of the springs belt, which winds uninterruptedly throughout the whole region; the belt is between 2 and 30 km wide, and roughly separates the environments of the upper and lower plain.
Compared to other Natura 2000 sites in the Veneto region preserving the same type of habitats, this SPA is significant for its size. This demonstrates a more thoughtful protection strategy, which made it possible to safeguard flatland springs environments more effectively than in other places, where only small areas of this habitat survive; furthermore, its large dimensions make this site the leading place for the protection of flatland springs, locally known as fontanassi or olle.
Finally, the site constitutes the natural continuation of Natura 2000 IT3240019 SPA as well as IT3240028 and IT3240031 SCIs.
