The sea and the coastal environments within the protected area are extremely heterogeneous. From Su Siccu, the end of the protected area in the Gulf of Oristano, the landscape is characterized by the lagoon, with a sandy tongue separating the Mistras lagoon from Mare Morto; with Capo San Marco promontory the coast becomes rocky and then descends into Mare Vivo, in San Giovanni di Sinis, and reascends with the cliff walls of Torr'e Seu.

Nature

The outline delimiting Penisola del Sinis - Isola di Mal di Ventre Marine Protected Area is characterized, towards the inland, by a coast with valuable, and sometimes unique, landscape and environmental features. In the low stretches of this coast, beaches made of sand and quartz granules of rare beauty have settled; in the upper stretches, imposing cliffs overhanging the sea represent viewpoints over the opposite Isle of Mal di Ventre, in the north, and Catalano cliff, in the south.
The uniqueness of this stretch of Sardinia is provided by the extraordinary sensation of continuity between land and sea. Sinis of Cabras is an extraordinary summary of human history and one of the most evocative nature résumés.
Despite the stillness conveyed by the geological "shapes", the local landscapes are the result of a series of geological events and human activities.

Culture

When we talk about the culture of a territory, we mean the conservation and innovation processes taking place in a given historical moment and including specific and qualifying forms of a specific civilization. Phenomena like literature, music, art, religion, rites and popular myths, one of the most evident signs of taste like cuisine and other forms of expression immediately witness the "cultural life" of an organic social body.
