Laghestel di Piné

Opening image Laghestel di Piné
This is a vast, U-shaped basin which was moulded by the glaciers and dug in the porphyry rocks. The biotope hosts damp meadows (Junco-Molinietum, Lysimachio-Filipenduletum, Scirpetum sylvatici, ecc.) and marshy meadows (Caricetum elatae, Caricetum rostratae); in a branch of the U, there is a roundish small lake which is now completely surrounded by reed thickets. The Laghestel di Piné is the first biotope (1971) to be established in Trentino thanks to the local council of Baselga di Piné. The biotope was then declared protected area also by the Provincia Autonoma di Trento. Where in Italy Laghestel di Piné
