A whole day to spend at direct contact with nature, to discover the archaeological remains of San Quirico Monastery. A trekking route offering charming views and leading from Baratti Gulf to the heart of the Middle Ages in Populonia. A journey back in the past, from the Hellenistic necropolis of the Caves towards the monastery concealed among the trees, recently brought back to light by the archaeologists. After the packed lunch, from the Monastery we will head uphill for Populonia Castle, offering a wonderful view of the islands, to continue then along via della Romanella, the ancient Roman road going down from the acropolis to the ancient industrial and port area facing Baratti Gulf.

• Meeting at 10.00 a.m. at the ticket office of the Necropolis area (Loc. Baratti, Piombino - LI).
• Duration: 6 hours.
• Difficulty: rather demanding.
• It is recommended to wear trekking clothes and bring water and packed lunch.
