Lama and Masseria of Pietre Tagliate

Tour on foot

We will leave on foot from Masseria Berloco in the countryside of Bitonto (BA), a farmstead producing cheese and dairy products, cereals and legumes (chicklings, chickpeas). We will continue the itinerary by crossing Bitonto Woodland, a conifer reforestation area, until we will reach the masseria with jazzo "Pietre Tagliate", a characteristic example of rural architecture linked to transhumance. The name of the Masseria derives from a very particular effect of erosion and cracking of the calcareous rocks present in the area, which seem to have been "cut". Built between the 15th and the 16th century, it was used as a shelter by shepherds during the transhumance among Molise, Abruzzi, and Apulia. The route ends at Masseria Berloco where there will be a tasting with the products of the farm.
