Info
The APE project (Appennino Parco d'Europa) derives from an idea of Legambiente and of the Abruzzo Region.
The parks of the Apennine ridge are a net whose center consists of an almost entirely protected territory. Their close relations with the surrounding areas make of them a system which is not only strictly linked to the rest of the mountain, but also to the small towns with which they interweave original economic relationships and experiment a model combining environmental preservation and economic development.
The guidelines of the APE project, which will play a strategic role in the future of the Apennine chain and of its surrounding areas, are the following:
- recovery of the traditional activities, especially those related to agriculture, in a modern manner;
- development of the naturalistic tourism not as a product, but as a search for values;
- rational and technological advanced organization of a service network, in which communication and transport will play an essential role: to be implemented in an efficient manner and limiting the environmental impact.
