In the past, travelers used to walk looking for people, markets, and business. They used to stop in the inns. A warm meal, a straw mattress to sleep. Bread and Wine.

An Inn with an Ancient Taste for people who know how to move today. A crossroads. Hands preparing genuine meals. Respecting the Seasons. Serving the meals with the smile of the persons that will make your bed too.
Downstairs, in front of the fireplace, people eat, talk, tell stories.
Upstairs, on the chestnut tree beams, people relax, fall asleep.
When you wake up, the rising sun over Alpe della Luna will remember you that Nature is still alive.
In "Locanda del Viandante" you will eat mushrooms when we find them. The real ones.
The mushrooms we pick up here in the surroundings, like the truffles and chestnuts. The cheese of the shepherds, the meat of the pastures.
And tap water, or better, of the spring of Alpe di Catenaia. You will rediscover Tastes. The real ones. Here, in Tuscany, in the Apennines. A mountain area. Cleaned by the wind coming from Verna, Viamaggio, Fumaiolo. Full of perfumes.

The Locanda

The Locanda consists of five cosy stone-built rooms where you can also find the bar, an ideal place if you want to stop and taste a snack, drink a glass of wine, or sip a fine coffee. In the morning, breakfast is served with coffee, milk, tea, fruit juices with bread, biscuits, fine local jams, and home-made cakes.
At lunch and dinner, we offer the opportunity to taste local dishes based on fresh and genuine products.>>>

The five roomy and luminous rooms are accessible form the large common hall situated on the upper floor of the barn preserving the features of the old country kitchen, of which the big stone fireplace remains.
Finely furnished according to a poor art style, they are enriched by the precious local clothes of Anghiari. They all offer a wonderful view over the hills of Monti Rognosi and Valtiberina.

The Territory

The town of Anghiari is situated in the heart of the Tiber Valley, a natural amphitheater rich in history and landscapes of matchless beauty. The visitor will find here a unique mosaic of different environments presenting themselves in a rich variety of shapes, colors, and perfumes all year round. There are several protected areas in the heart of the valley that safeguard unique ecosystems of great value like "Golene del Tevere" and "Monti Rognosi": here you can admire rare and charming natural settings where you can sight wolves, deer and roe deer, porcupines, badgers, foxes, or birds of prey like the sparrow hawk, the buzzard, or the golden eagle.
Anghiari is a wonderful medieval town situated in a territory shaped by the rivers Tiber and Arno. An inviolable fortress thanks to its imposing 13th century walls, it has always represented a reference point for many historical events, embodying the Tuscan features in a borderland characterized by a very delicate balance.
