An Important Agricultural-Environmental Workshop

Where in Italy Monumento Naturale di Mazzalupetto
Situated in the north-western section of the Municipality of Rome, between the railway line Roma-Viterbo and GRA (Grande Raccordo Anulare), the Natural Monument includes plateaus and valleys characterizing the countryside in the north of Rome. Here Ilex trees, Cork oaks, and Downy oaks grow. However, most of the land is now used for extensive agriculture. The woodland offers shelter to the wildlife, protected now from poaching. It is the same landscape crossed during the medieval jubilee years by the pilgrims coming from Cassia and Aurelia roads. Today, the new Natural Monument represents an important agricultural-environmental workshop for the nearby areas and aims at promoting among citizens, children and adults, the knowledge of rural life and of a conscious diet.
