Many Initiatives on the Program from 15th to 24th May in the Italian Parks
As every year, the initiative of the European Federation of Parks repeats itself, to remind the day when in 1909 the first European park was established in Sweden. This date has without a doubt a great symbolic value, and for this reason it is celebrated throughout Europe.
In Italy the celebrations will last the whole week, from Saturday 15th to Monday 24th May, and will consist of a rich program including meetings, tours, exhibitions, and environmental activities organized by each Park Authority.
Sport will be the unification theme of the event, according to the celebration of the International Year of Education through sport.
The protected areas offer several opportunities to practice sport in a healthy manner and respecting the environment, and to transmit good values and ideals.
As a matter of fact, the genuineness of the relationship between man and nature and with the challenges it is necessary to face, beyond any sophistication and excess of competitiveness is one of the aspects on which the activity of the Parks is inspired to.
The “European Day” of 2004 aims at demonstrating that also in this field the good working of a widespread network of protected areas can lead to important benefits for the whole society.
