News from the Italian Parks

(Assergi (AQ), 09 Gen 14) The first issue of the biannual newsletter "Praterie" is available online, and it describes the first results of the Life Project's actions implemented by the Gran Sasso and Laga Mountains Park (the only beneficiary) to safeguard the pastures of the protected area through participatory activities involving all the subjects within the territory.

The present issue especially shows the socioeconomic implications of the project through the positive launch of the participatory process for the drawing up of a new grazing regulation, the strengthening of the alliance with the farmers - fundamental subjects for the conservation of pastures - through the listening to the needs of the zootechnical sector,  as far as the watering troughs are concerned, and the consequent structural adaptation of the springs, together with the works to safeguard the habitats connected to the high altitude lakes.
