"Charter for Sustainable Tourism: Working to support recovery and renewal"

This year’s biennial ECST meeting will take place on Gran Sasso and will tackle the issue of earthquakes, too
(12 Set 17)

In the International Year of Sustainable Tourism for Development, the meeting of the ECST (European Charter for Sustainable Tourism in Protected Areas) Network will take place in Italy, at Gran Sasso-Monti della Laga National Park. ECST-awarded sustainable destinations take part in the meeting, organised every two years. The meeting will take place from 25 to 28 October. Gran Sasso has been chosen because a terrible earthquake affected the area last year. The theme of the 2017 edition will be "Charter for Sustainable Tourism: Working to support recovery and renewal". The meeting also addresses citizens and local businesses working to recover the buildings that the earthquake destroyed. ECST will thus acquire further new perspectives, showing how it can be employed to support the rebirth of these areas. Europarc Federation and Federparchi invite all members and professionals involved in the European Charter and sustainable tourism in protected areas to participate in this event, which will take place at Isola del Gran Sasso.
