Award ceremony of the European Charter for Sustainable Tourism in Protected Areas (ECST) in Brussels

Italian charter-awarded protected areas are now 58

The award ceremony of the European Charter for Sustainable Tourism in Protected Areas is taking place today in Brussels, at the European Parliament headquarters.

Of the 21 areas that are going to be awarded, 7 have just started on their path to become sustainable destinations, and 5 of them are Italian:

  • Penisola del Sinis - Isola di Mal di Ventre Marine Protected Area
  • Gargano National Park
  • Gran Sasso - Monti della Laga National Park
  • Aspromonte National Park
  • Trentino Reserves Network

Thus, Italian charter-awarded protected areas are now 58, of which 16 national parks, 1 trans-regional park, 18 regional parks, 4 marine protected areas, 1 national reserve, 5 regional reserves, and 13 other protected areas.
