Selvapiana

Area of great tranquility that, at the time of Azzo da Correggio (1341) hosted Francesco Petrarca. Inspired by the serenity of the place, the great poet here ended the "De Africa". On the basis of this, as early as 1815 it was thought to erect a monument in his honour in this place; the project finally saw the light between 1839 and 1847 thanks to the interest of a group of writers and artists supported by the Duchess of Parma, Maria Luigia. Recently restored, the place is now a destination for many tourists who come to admire the statue placed inside the temple, by Tomaso Bandini and the decorations by Francesco Scaramuzza.
