Leguigno

With different names, such as Avigno, Agrigno and Lagogna (which seem to indicate the etymological "lake"), the town has been known since the Matilde era. After the death of Matilde, the territory of Leguigno and its surroundings was substantially split between the monasteries of Canossa and Marola. In this period a church dedicated to St. John the Baptist was already erected, placed in a beautiful panoramic position. In 1188 Leguigno was already a consolidated center and organized with communal forms and, in 1315 it was an autonomous municipality, before becoming a fief of the Fogliani, the Bebbi and the Scapinelli.
