The Trail of the Dragonflies

Accessible Trails
Accessible Trails

Dragonfly

The Trail of the Dragonflies has been named after the considerable presence of various species of dragonflies that can be easily observed along the trail.
Entirely developing along a dirt road, the trail is mainly dedicated to groups of students, but can be also appreciated by any kind of visitor. While creating the trail, we paid attention to its accessibility for disabled persons, maintaining a constant width and reducing the excessive difference in height.
The critical stretches of the trail - like the observation point over the stretch of water and the crossing of the canals - are safe thanks to the presence of parapets. La Morta presents within it an island which, since it is not easily accessible and is characterized by some high-trunk trees, is ideal for the creation of an heronry.

Biodiversity Trail

In the territory of Parco Adda Sud, between the Municipalities of Lodi and Cavenago d’Adda, there is Lanca di Soltarico, the longest oxbow in Italy. During the flood of the river Adda in 1976 in location Casellario, the river changed its route with a meander jump, forming a 7-km long oxbow, which is gradually silting up and is linked to the river.

Cycling itineraries among history and nature

The suggested itineraries are seven, like the colors of the rainbow, and cross the territory of Parco Adda Sud from north to south. They do not present particular difficulties and develop on dirt roads, asphalt roads, and stretches of path. We tried to avoid very busy roads, even if inevitably some short stretches include forced passages along such ways of communication. They are accessible to all the cycling tourists with a minimum of experience, and able to ride for distances of about 30 kilometers with bicycles suitable for not particularly demanding off-the-road tracks. The routes are linked one to the other, since they have in common the bridges over the river Adda: in this way, you can decide to link more itineraries among them and to ride for longer distances. If you are well trained, you can ride throughout the whole extension of Parco Adda Sud for a total of more than km 200 of cycling tracks, by linking all the 7 routes. Each itinerary includes an introductory part indicating the kilometers, the guiding thread of the route, and the eventual difficulties; moreover, you will find a brief description of the itinerary at the bottom of a map in scale 1:25000. Finally, the architectural and naturalistic elements, as well as other elements of the itinerary which are worth a visit are described. The environment housing the seven rainbow routes is the flat stretch of Adda, a great river rich in history and with a close relationship with human activities in the centuries.
