Verona Red Lettuce

Verona Red Lettuce is crunchy, has a slightly bitter taste and shares its main features with the variety from Treviso, except its shape, which is more compact and rounded. It has tonic bitters, stomatic, and depurative properties, since it has a beneficial action on the digestive system. Raw or cooked, it is eaten in tasty salads, used to prepare risotto, pies, and cakes; it becomes a specialty when grilled.
