The voice of nature

Audio track of the typical sounds of Alcantara River Park's nature. You can listen to a charming choir composed of several typical spring birds, such as the European goldfinch, the barn swallow, and even the rooster.

The "Gurna Passerella" Waterfalls

Near the town of Francavilla di Sicilia, where the Alcantara River Park Authority has its head office, there is one of the most beautiful places in the whole river area, which is characterized by a series of natural small lakes which were shaped in the basalt by the river erosion and are called "Gurne". The Park also realized a nature trail which allows hikers to visit some of the Gurne: the most important one is the so-called Gurna della Passerella (meaning Gurna of the Footbridge). It was called like this because it could be seen from up high thanks to a metal footbridge built above the river by Enel. Two 5-meter-high waterfalls flow into this Gurna, and this is their sound.

By the Alcantara River's mouth

The typical sounds of the river breaking on the waves of the sea. It is the Alcantra river flowing into the Ionian Sea near the municipality of Calatabiano (CT). This is a mix of the sounds of the river flowing and of the waves of the sea.

Birdsongs at dawn

This is the typical sound you can listen to at dawn in the Alcantara River Park. A delightful bird choir.

The voice of the Alcantara river

The river Alcantara, which dug the basalt rock, has its own voice. In this audio file we can hear the river and the birdsongs as well.
