Del Bianco Lake (2,157m)

  • Trail Conditions: On foot
  • Interest: Geology, Panorama
  • Duration: 1 hour/s 30 minutes

It is a small lake of glacial origin situated above the wonderful plateau of Pian dul Scricc. It is characterized by the yellowish rocks surrounding it, covered by a very particular flora, and by the silt and whitish sand at the bottom of the lake: unique features that can hardly be found in other places. It will be particularly exciting to visit Del Bianco Lake in early summer, when it is very rich in the water coming from the glaciers and when all the surrounding mountains reflect themselves in it.

Itinerary: from Veglia basin follow the carriage road leading to Cornù and reach CAI mountain hut. From here, a trail climbing diagonally leads to the plateau characterized by the colors of the Great Traverse of the Alps you will find on the rocks. Turn left and go ahead in the thin woodland of larches and rhododendrons, along a steeper and steeper trail. After some hairpin bends, you will reach a ravine and, after the last flat stretch, you will find yourself in front of the stretch of water with its almost unnatural colors.
