Like many other alpine valleys, also Valsesia is one of those "neglected" areas for which, because of the distance from the big culture centers, data have been sporadically collected. The thorough understanding of the distribution and ecological patterns of the species living in a limited area gives the opportunity to think about management and enhancement proposals, crucial aspects for a protected area.
The animals described in this book are divided in four categories: snakes, saurians, anurans, and urodeles (features and differences are explained).
