It is a rather easy itinerary developing at medium altitudes; however, it is characterized by technical difficulties depending on its lay-out. The panoramas you can enjoy over Val Trebbia are wonderful, as well as the imposing rocky slopes of Mt. Lavagnola. Moreover, you will cross some small villages where you will rediscover the old rural architecture and the life in the fields.
The itinerary leaves from Galleria di Buffalora and heads for Cappelletta della Costa, dominating the town of Torriglia. Once you reach the small chapel, the trail turns right, runs along the church, and then goes downhill, until it crosses the Trebbia. Then, after a first stretch of asphalt road, go ahead along the trail and reach loc. Benasco. Always following the trail, you will reach the pass on Val Brugneto and then go down to the town of Costamarenga.
Continue along a fast and funny downhill trail, and reach Serra. The tour will continue uphill along a dirt road towards Friciallo and then, once reached the town, along a ridge trail leading to Portello Pass. Here follow Alta Via up to the foot of Mt. Lavagnola and then take the trail marked with the yellow empty triangle leading back to Galleria di Buffalora.
