| Insectivorous plants vegetate on the shores of small lakes set in the forest of Lame, the heart of Aveto Regional Park. The landscape is dominated by the highest peaks of the Ligurian Apennines, between 1600 to 1800 meters of altitude, and it reminds of the middle-European alpine areas also for its pastures which have been preserved thanks to the cattle breeding activities and to the production of a typical cheese. Thanks to the financial help of the Park and to the miners' commitment, it is nowadays possible to visit a deep manganese mine with a charming little train. There are many historical settlements of rural origin and sacred buildings such the ancient Abbey of Borzone. |
