A wide natural terrace

The Parco del Barberino is a Park involving many municipalities which was founded by the Municipality of Civitade Camuno after the Deliberation by the City Council N. 61 of January 5th, 1986 and recognized by the Region Lombardy under the regional law 83/83. The territory belonging to the Park extends over 118.90 hectares and is situated south-east of the built-up area of Civitade Camuno: this area's narrow and long shape extends over the big rise emerging from the Camonica Valley bottom which separates the Oglio Valley from the Grigna Valley. The altitude ranges from 250 meters in Park's lowest part to 450 meters of the hill rising close to the big rock where the Hermitage of Saints Peter and Paul stands over. The Park can be divided into two zones with different features. The west zone called Bardisone is covered with coppice, while the north-west zone situated above the rock face surrounding the village is made up of the cultivated Barberino plain surrounded by European black pines and larches. Thanks to the easy accessibility of the territory and to the possibility of visiting it in every season the park, which is rich in interesting natural and cultural aspects, is ideal for the carrying out of environmental education activities.
