- Difficulty: T
- Walking time: 2 h
- Difference in height: 100 m
- Trail mark: yellow full circle, barred
- Advisable period: the whole year
- How to get there: leaving from the holiday farm, turn left and take the road SP 1; after about 2 km you will reach the beginning of the route.
Very interesting itinerary not only from a naturalistic, but also from a historical point of view, alternating panoramic views over the Orba and evidences of the rural world.
The departure point is situated at the junction between the road SP 1 and the road to Olbicella. Follow the road with a natural bottom leading to the Badia di Tiglieto where, turing left, the path gently climbs through a wood dominated by conifers. After a while you will find the small bridge over rio Fornace, which is not in use at the moment; by following the trail mark go ahead on a short stretch of the SP road. The path enters again a wood which, step by step, varies in its floristic composition, from chestnut trees to Scotch pines to aspens. By crossing the iron bridge you will get to loc. Frera da Bassu, a toponym indicating the presence of an ancient ironworks whose ruins can be found near the banks of the Orba.
The landscape of the wood is now mixed, charaterized by riparian vegetation with alders, service trees, hazelnut trees, together with sessile oaks, where you go beyond two bridges one after the other, in an almost fairy-tale like atmosphere.
Broad and charming views over the Orba characterize the last stretch of the path where, on a rocky serpentinite soil, you can find medicinal plants (summer savory and helichrysum), the rare Robertia taraxacoides, heather, and hull. Before returning to the Badia, cross the ancient Roman bridge near which there is a centuries-old oak quoted among the monumental trees of Liguria.
