Parco della Brughiera

Opening image Parco della Brughiera
The park includes a wide woody area of valuable landscape interest, the last green area between Milan and Como. Such features morainic hills placed into concentrical arcs, covered by a thick blanket of "ferretto"- decalcified and clayey soil - typical of the moorland of Como.
Beside the growing of the "classic" moorland the socalled "alberata" developed during the last centuries. It hosts interesting faunistic species, mainly ornithic, nesting and migratory. The park is home to remarkable marsh environments like the Natural Reserve Lago di Montorfano and the Bassone peat-mosses.
