At School in the Park - School Year 2012/2013

Environmental education carried out through educational activities for children is one of the main aims on which the Administration of Burcina Park Authority has decided to focus; it is a long-term investment on new generations to guarantee a future to the safeguard of the environment and the quality of life. Environmental education involves knowledge, values, behaviors, direct experiences regarding the relationship between living species, the working and evolution of the natural ecosystems and the changes deriving from the human activities.
Environmental education requires:

  • routes in which you can understand, observe, do, take care of
  • exploratory spirit and knowledge-making process (rather than the transmission of knowledge)

Environmental education activities and initiatives, even if varying in forms and organization and without pretending to be comprehensive:
- involve knowledge, values, behaviors, direct experiences for the respect and interaction among the various forms of life present in the environment;
- give the opportunity to create and spread a culture able to go beyond the disposable dimension and to inspire our actions to the "sense of limit";
- promote opportunities and contexts to educate to the comparison and management of conflicts, from different points of view;
- strengthen the relationship between action and knowledge, words and behavior;
- help individuals to acquire an essential understanding of the environment on the whole, the issues linked to it, the human presence in this environment, the important responsibility and essential role they should play.
