Burcina Park is situated in the Municipalites of Biella and Pollone.
To receive further information about the town of Biella you can go to the web site: www.comune.biella.it

Pollone does not have at the moment its own web site. Therefore, we provide some information about the town.

  • Town Library "Benedetto Croce"
Via caduti per la Patria, 71 - Pollone (BI), within an original building.

  • San Barnaba Church
17th-century Chapel built on one of the summits surrounding the town.

  • Path "Pier Giorgio Frassati"
path created by the C.A.I. of Biella, in collaboration with other authorities and associations, to remember the blessed P.G. Frassati, on the occasion of the centenary of his birth. The departure point lies near to the cementery in Pollone, and after covering a difference in height of 1,500m, at 2,000m of height it ends at the summit of Mt. Mucrone.

Oropa Sanctuary

At a few kilometers from Burcina Park there is Oropa Sanctuary, one of the most important sanctuaries of the Alps, which you can visit at the web site: www.santuariodioropa.it

History

The love for nature, a considerable knowledge of the exotic fauna, a great passion for gardening probably were the prerequisites which led towards the half of the 19th century Giovanni Piacenza, an wool industrialist from Pollone, to purchase the Burcina hill and to transform it into a Park by following the features of the landscape garden born in England in the 18th century.
