Marchio Prodotto consigliato dal Parco
The "Marchio Prodotto consigliato dal Parco" (Label for the Product Recommended by the Park) was born to enhance and promote those products complying with the production specifications formally established and certified by other subjects.
This Label must be considered above all a strengthening of the already existing quality labels and an attempt to reward and support those products complying with particular product and/or process requirements in a geographical context of particular value like the protected area.
The award of the Label to the products complying with specific quality and eco-sustainability features aims at drawing the attention of the market and the consumers on some products "recommended" by the Park because of certified quality (organic products) or because complying with quality (PDO, PGI, etc.) and eco-sustainability (Ecolabel...) specifications.
Reasons for the inclusion of the Parma Ham PDO among the awarded products
For its excellent quality and healthiness, extraordinary tradition and great nutritional value, to the extent that, thanks to its strict production specifications, has obtained the PDO European Label.
Parma Ham is part of the local culture and history, contributes to the diffusion of correct diet behaviors and to the maintenance of the knowledge linked to this delicate processing. Moreover, it contributes to maintain the employment level in marginal areas. Parma Ham is universally recognized as a "synonym" of quality and typicality and contributes to transform the territory of Parma into the "world capital of quality agrifoodstuffs". The quality of PDO Parma Ham is guaranteed by the activity and controls of the relative Consorzio di Tutela (Safeguard Consortium).
