The stretch of Sentiero Italia - a national itinerary drawn by CAI - crossing Umbria and the Marches develops in about 20 laps from Bocca Trabaria (1,049m) to Forca Canapine (1,540m). The lap going from Mt. Pennino and, across Colfiorito, leading to Mt. Tolagna, is a trail of great interest because, besides crossing areas with landscape, geobotanical, and geomorphological features characteristic of the Apennines, it touches not only sites of naturalistic interest (biotopes of national interest, floristic areas, and regional parks), but also sites of cultural and historical-archaeological interest that are often unknown or, too often, forgotten.
