"I volti della Collina, azioni differenziate per un territorio variegato"
InFEA Provincial Program (Information, Training, Environmental Education) 2007 Provincia di Torino - Regione Piemonte
Collina Torinese Park Authority joins the InFEA 2007 Provincial Program of Provincia di Torino, with a project aiming at exploring the economic, territorial, and social marginal features of Collina Torinese, implementing some actions for a sustainable development of the area. These include the environmental education routes for the school year 2007/08. The program is dedicated to schools at any grade, in particular those situated in the Municipalities of San Mauro Torinese, Pino Torinese, Baldissero, Castagneto Po; in Unione di Comuni Collina Torinese; in the Municipalities of Gassino, Castiglione Torinese, San Raffaele Cimena, Casalborgone.
The Visitor Center of Parco Naturale della Collina Torinese deals with the planning, organization, and implementation of the suggested activities. The local bodies, first of all schools, are involved in the planning of the activities so that they can be contextualized and shaped according to the pupils' needs.
There are other associations taking part in this project: the cooperative L'arcobaleno from Castiglione Torinese, the association Città dei Ragazzi di Strada Cartman in Torino, the cooperative In/contro from Castagneto Po, Museo delle Contadinerie e della Cultura Materiale from Valle Ceppi (Pino Torinese).

Further Special Projects
The Babies from the Nurseries... Discover the Park!
Since 2003-2004 the Visitor Center has been organizing environmental education experiments dedicated to the children of the last year of nursery, in order to create a proposal dedicated to an age usually ignored by environmental education activities.
The initiative includes 1 introductory meeting in the nursery, 1 preliminary tour in the territory adjacent the nursery, and 3 tours in the territory of Parco Naturale Collina Torinese.
Through the gradual exploration of the territory, fairy tales and games, children will live an important experience and will acquire important motor and psychological skills stimulated by the sense of adventure, astonishment, curiosity, freedom, but also fear, discomfort, and mystery deriving from the natural environment, so different from the urban environment, "protected" and characterized by a levelling of sensorial and motor incentives.
The co-planning of the route and the exchange of competence, knowledge, and methodological instruments between the educators of the nursery and the environmental educators will be essential. The whole route is monitored and organized with the typical research-action instruments.
Initiative supported by the Park Authority and Circoscrizione VII - Città di Torino.
Role-playing Game: Conflicts in Protected Areas
The project, which can be carried out also in Parco Orsiera-Rocciavrè, includes 3 meetings in the classroom and one outdoor tour. The project consists (in the classroom and in the park) of a role-playing game aimed at discovering the park and the problems linked to the management of protected areas. Pupils will have to see things from a different point of view, and they will have to live a role and experience a situation which is often far from their life style and way of thinking. By comparing different points of view, they will take a decision on a controversial matter (extend or not the Park borders).
Moreover, there will be an introductory meeting with teachers to present project and methodology and to find out the links existing between the issues pupils will deal with during the activity and the school programs.
Initiative organized thanks to the collaboration of the Park Authority and the Visitor Center with
- Parco Orsiera-Rocciavrè
- Gruppo di ricerca in didattica delle Scienze Naturali dell'Università di Torino
- Centro Servizi Didattici della Provincia di Torino.
The Budding Park Keeper
The initiative offers pupils attending the last year of the Kindergartens in the Town of Turin the opportunity to live a great experience rich in incentives: one week (period May/June) in the wood with the Park Keepers and teachers to discover the environment and play with it. In the natural context of Bosco del Vaj (all the activities are held within the Reserve) the pupils will carry out - while playing - activities linked to the profession of Park Keeper. At the end of the week, the pupils will receive the special certificate of "Budding Park Keeper".
Initiative promoted by the Town of Turin - Educational Services Department in collaboration with the Park Authority.
The Little Park Keepers
It is a summer course lasting one week and entirely developing in the open air, in the woods and along the trails of the protected area.
The protagonists are the Park keepers, busy both in the planning of the activities and in their development, and of course the children living in the Municipalities adjacent to the Park and attending the Elementary School.
Living and playing in a natural environment, important experiences, like the night spent in the wood in tent, sharing with others fun and some efforts, the methodology inspiring activities and games, the responsibility towards the territory welcoming us transform the suggested activity into an opportunity to grow up and socialize, thanks to its great educational value.
Active both in the Bosco del Vaj and in Superga in June and July.
