The beginning of the Lanari's activity as vintners in Varano (a town lying in the vicinity of Monte Conero) dates back to 1970 when they passed from standard cultivation of vineyards. Over the following years vines were planted on 6,5 hectares of land, of which 4,5 hectares were planted with vines for Rosso Cónero DOC wine. The other two hectares of land were planted with vines for the production of white wines typical of this area. Luca and Beatrice Lanari, both highly experienced vintners, began wine-making in the small wine-cellar thy owned. However, only with the vintage of 1993 did they succeed in producing such an excellent quality of Rosso Cónero DOC wine and of two white wines, Casino and Angiolo quality, that these wines were immediately appreciated by a number of specialized publication, such as "the Guide of Italian wines" edited by "Gambero Rosso" and the "Merum" magazine. December 1996 will see the marketing of "Fibbio", a quality wine resulting from a careful selection of 1994 Rosso Cónero DOC wine.
