20 YEARS of LIFE for DELTA

(Comacchio, 17 May 12) It is a public meeting to celebrate the 20th anniversary of the LIFE fundings. May has been chosen by the European Commission as the month during which all those who benefitted from the LIFE fundings have been asked to organize an event to celebrate this important goal in the history of the community funding instrument for environment. The Managing Authority for Parks and Biodiversity of the Po Delta, in collaboration with other recipients of the ongoing projects in the Po Delta territory, have organized an event that can highlight the investments in the Po Delta Territory over the last 20 years, which come both from the LIFE fundings and from the fundings of the public organizations both on a regional and a local level. Many projects have been realized over the last 20 years even before the two Park Authorities, both in Emilia-Romagna and Venetia, were established. These investments are somehow proportional to the richness in biodiversity of the Po Delta territory. During the meeting there will be the opportunity to compare the different aspects of this theme thanks to the interviews conducted by Giorgio Costa, journalist for the "Sole 24ore", on the concept of Biodiversity and Ecosystem services, with the aim of knowing and communicating these fundamental themes for human well-being in the future.
