Present in cold waters, the merling is a fish belonging to the Gadidae family. It reaches a maximum length of 50 cm, with an average of 20/30 cm. This fish is widespread in the Atlantic Ocean between Portugal and Norway, in the Black Sea and in the north-central Adriatic Sea in great amounts.
