Aufwiedersehen (good-bye) is the greeting engraved by the Austrian soldiers on the beam at the entrance of the military cemetery of Val di Fanes. It is the key word leading the author in his search for war cemeteries and other changes left by the Great War in the territory of Cortina d'Ampezzo. The rich and unpublished photo documentation represents the evidence of the life and tragic end of the people who fought in the Dolomitic mountains.
