The initial part of the tour winds among the elevations between Nuoro's territory and Mount Gonare, a place famous thanks to its isolated small church.

Shortly before Orani the visitors are amazed by the imposing open excavations of the Sa Matta talc mines. In this site, in the locality of San Francesco, two talc mines were opened in the last century: talc is used by the cosmetic industry which found in the Sardinian deposit one of the main sources in the whole Country.
