Parco Regionale della Grigna Settentrionale

Honey

Without a doubt, honey is a jewel for gluttons: obtained from the nectar or honeydew of plants, it is transformed and stored by bees and matures in the honeycombs. Its features can be considerably different: honey can be liquid or crystal-clear, almost transparent, amber-colored or dark, with a sweet or slightly bitter taste, according to the nectar it derives from.
The Park houses top-quality productions, to the extent that Apicoltura Muttoni from Taceno has been awarded the prize "Tre gocce d'oro 2008" during the Contest "Grandi Mieli d'Italia - Premio Giulio Piana", the longed-for acknowledgement for the best national honey, awarded during Salone del Gusto in Turin for the category "Alpine high-mountain mixed flower honey".
