Colombo Cave

Place of significant archaeological interest, above the village of Sano. It is a large cave opening on the northern slope of the Dos Castion. In 1881 it was the location of important archaeological findings. The excavations brought to light the ruins of fireplaces and many tombs, inside and outside the cave, where they found hundreds of pots' fragments, spindles, bone pendants - influence of the Bell-Beaker culture which developed in most of the European territories between 2,800 and 2,200 BC - and remaining potteries showing the influence of the Rhine area, flint tools and many bones of pets and wild animals, as well as fishbones.
