The 50th Anniversary of the European Diploma for Protected Areas will be celebrated with other 27 European Countries on the 21st and 22nd of May in San Rossore.

(Pisa, 17 Apr 15) Next month, on the 21st and 22nd of May, the 50th anniversary of the establishment of the European Diploma for Protected Areas will take place in the Tenuta di San Rossore. In the past months the European Council chose the Parco Naturale Migliarino San Rossore Massaciuccoli to organize the international seminar that will celebrate the event, and that due to its significance also obtained the high patronage of the President of the Italian Republic, of the Minister of Environment and of the Region Tuscany.

About a hundred of representatives of 27 European Countries - including the authorities of the protected areas which have been already awarded the European Diploma, the experts of the European Council and the technicians - will share their experiences and the best management practices, and they will talk about the challenges the parks have to tackle in an always more interconnected world, where technology and globalization are changing the way people perceive the natural environment and the role of the protected areas.
A few days before the European Day of Parks, the Park will experience a unique opportunity: for two days the protected area will actually become the 'heart' of the Old World's best parks, whose excellence level has been certified right through the issue of the European Diploma.
