The itinerary develops entirely in the area accessible to visitors and aims at promoting the knowledge of the wetlands of the inland swamps, where it is possible to admire a characteristic meso-hygrophilous woodland dominated by black alders, white poplars, and narrow-leafed ash. As it enters Maddalena Woodland, dominated by broadleaf trees and stone pine, the itinerary reaches Fiume Morto Nuovo at Ponte della Sterpaia and continues along a broad trail - partially dirt trail - running parallel to the river.
