Curtatone

The centuries-old village of Grazie overlooking the Mincio Valleys

The municipality of Curtatone was a protagonist of the Italian history. In Curtatone and Montanara one of the most significant battles during the Italian Unification occurred: the battle of the 29th of May 1948 between the Austro-Hungarian army and the Piedmont one. Two monuments by the architect Poggi commemorate these events: the war memorial for the fallen during the battle and the charnel house of those "who died for the independence of Italy".

Grazie is located within the Mincio Regional Park. Here there is the sanctuary of the Beata Vergine Maria, built on behalf of Francesco I Gonzaga between 1399 and 1406 as a votive offering during a plague epidemic.

Visitors can take part in the hikes in the Mincio Valleys, EDEN destinations of excellence. In Grazie there is also one of the Info points of Terre del Mincio.
