Schiacciatina

Schiacciatina was the ancient bread of the farmers, who used to eat it when they were out working in the countryside. It is a square focaccia obtained from common wheat, water, salt, and lard. The mixture is left standing, and then it is cut in many quadrangular pieces a few millimeter thick. It is baked for a short time and is eaten instead of bread.
