Virgil's Mincio

In the native places of the greatest poet, where nature is still bucolic

  • Trail Conditions: By bike
  • Interest: Flora, Panorama, Hystory
  • Departure: Cerese

Virgil's Mincio is a historic and environmental trail planned to highlight some excellent features of the territory, situated in the protected area of the Mincio Regional park, in the stretch of Mincio's lower river course. Along the trail the visitors will admire a series of architectures included in the landscapes: they are element functioning as "doors" that structure and measure the cycling-pedestrian path developing along the river bank. The architectures work as interpretation centers by presenting - being the main cultural proposer - the character of the poet Virgil, who was born in Andes (now called Pietole di Virgilio). The architectures become a sort of doors combining Virgil's poetry and the contemporary river landscape. These architectural objects identify places, allow visitors to rest and support the didactic elements guiding the visitors to understand and know a territory offering views of extraordinary beauty.
