Bertone Park and Villa

Bertone Park, in the municipality of Goito, was the summer residence of the D'Arco family. The origin of this small green lung - a stretch of ancient Po plain forest - is lost in the mists of time, but it was during the 19th century that the interventions of Count Luigi D'Arco turned it into a natural jewel. The romantic garden-wood surrounding the manor house (built in 1870), the stables and the annexed buildings reproduces the design and composition of the garden at Palazzo D'Arco in town, thus revealing the hand of the same designer. The clearing in front of the house, the walkways penetrating the wood where vegetation has grown wild, the majestic nettle trees, black walnuts and ginkgo bilobas, the small lake and the many charming spots together create a unique scenery to be discovered during a pleasant walk. Bertone Park is also a Visitor Centre of Mincio Regional Park. Here, the Park Authority has also created a White Stork Centre (Ciconia ciconia): in the surroundings and on ancient tree tops, stork nests are numerous within Bertone Park.
