The whole itinerary, especially in spring and summer, is a natural garden housing flowers with intense and lively colors, sometimes rare and legendary like the wonderful orchids (Dacthyloriza sambucina, Orchis mascula, Orchis simia and others), while in the surroundings ancient beech tree woods slope down to mixed woods characterized by black hornbeam (Ostrya carpinifolia), flowering ash (Fraxinus ornus), and Turkey oak on the coolest slopes, and downy oaks (Quercus pubescens) on the hottest slopes. In many areas you can notice black pine reforestation measures carried out to enable a re-colonization of the wood in areas that were exploited in the past by cattle grazing and agricultural activities.
