Attempt of bearwatching and sleeping into a mountain hut

A weekend dedicated to the observation of the Marsican brown bear in its natural habitat. The exclusive Ecorifugio della Cicerana, located at 1560 m above sea level, is an ideal place as a starting point for excursions to aim fauna. Here bears have found their ideal habitat, with its dense woods, karst enviroment full of cavities and large clearings as grazing areas. We will wait patientlly for the appearance of the magnificente plantigrade. We will enjoy the starring sky after sunset and we will enjoy the warm ospitality of the lodge. During observations of fauna you can also spot other animals: deer, wild boar and with a little luck even the wolf. We advive eveyone to carfully read the rules of Ecosofia to help guide perform a stakeout in full respect of the animals.

PROGRAM

First day PASSO DEL DIAVOLO - ECORIFUGIO DELLA CICERANA. Aftrer a short trip by car (everyone with its own) to the path we will climb to the plateau of Cicerana, where the hut is located. Late aftrenoon attempt of Bearwatching. Dinner and overnight stay at the hut.

Second day ECORIFUGIO DELLA CICERANA- VALLONE LAMPAZZO- FONTE PUZZA - PASSO DEL DIAVOLO. Rise early. Breakfast and new attempt of Bearwatching. Excursion through the wild Vallone Lampazzo, until it reachs the old forest VAL CERVARA. From here you take the descent to Passo del Diavolo. Packed lunch. Expected return in the early afternoon. 

The program could be changed according to wheater conditions.

DIFFICULTY: MEDIUM. First day: elevation gain 200 m. Km almost 4. Second day: elevation gain 350 m, Km almost 11.

DURATION: 2 days/1 night

COST: € 100 PER PERSON - € 80 for childrren from 7 to 12 years old

THE COST INCLUDES: full board in dormitory(breakfast and dinner at Ecorifugio della Cicerana + packed lunch of the second day, drinkable water and 1/4 of wine during the dinner), assietence of Nature Guide as in the program.

THE COST DOESN'T INCLUDE: transport, extra drinks and everything not mentioned in the voice "The cost includes".

ACCOMODATION: at Ecorifugio della Cicerana

EQUIPMENT: hiking shoes, raincoat or poncho, water bottle, backpack, longs pants, jackets, t-shirt, flashlight, sweatshirt, binocular, sun protection cream, sleeping bag os sheet sleaping bag, towels and pillow case. During the wildlife observations could be cold so we recommed to dress in layers.
