Bearwatching long weekend

Those who have had the opportunity to stay in a territory with bears know that their presence raises the mountains, makes the canyons deeper, sharpens the wind, lights the stars, darkens the forests, accelerates the beating of things (John Murray). This weekend is a unique experience to get to know the bears better and enjoy the immense green spaces that the Abruzzo National Park offers. We will learn to recognize their signs of presence, we will frequent their habitats, we will understand how they perceive the surrounding world and with a little luck we will also be able to admire them, free in their natural environment.

PROGRAM

First day
arrival in PESCASSEROLI at 2.00 pm, meeting at the Ecotur office. Accommodation in the rooms. At 3.00 pm departure for an excursion on the trail of the bear in the Cicerana valley. Late afternoon attempt to observe bears and other species (deer, wolf, roe deer, etc.). Dinner in a refuge followed by an evening excursion under the stars. Return to the hotel around 10.30 pm.

-Second day at 07.00 breakfast; 09.00 excursion to Lago Vivo, which in this period presents itself in its maximum luxuriance. . Packed lunch at the expense of the participants. Expected return in the afternoon; 18.00 stakeout at the Marsican brown bear; 21.00 dinner and overnight stay;

- Third day
6.00 am stalking the Marsican brown bear. 8.00 am breakfast. 09.00 excursion in the wild Lampazzo valley in search of bear tracks and to get to know the centuries-old beech woods, a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Packed lunch at the expense of the participants. Return to the cars scheduled for about 16.00. Greetings and departure.

DIFFICULTY MEDIUM/EASY First day: round trip about 8 Km elevation gain about 200 m

Second day: round trip about 11 Km uphill and downhill about 500 m
Third day: about 10 km. Uphill difference in height 450

DURATION: 3 days/2 nights

COST: € 210 p.p (3 days / 2 nights) 20% less 8to 12 years old

THE COST INCLUDES: Half board in rooms with services + Care of Nature guide.

THE COST DOESN'T INCLUDE: Transportation and transfers, meals and anything not mentioned in "the price includes";

ACCOMODATION: In B & B family owned

EQUIPMENT: Hiking boots, jacket (possibly gore-tex), backpack, wind jacket or poncho, water bottle, hat, flashlight, hat for the sun, sunglasses, sun protection cream, long pants and "swetcher ", camera, binoculars. Dress in layers especially during bearwatching.
