Our itinerary leaves from Piazza del Cavatore, near the Town Hall, and heads for the summit of Mt. Calamita: here, follow the road signs indicating the hiking itineraries of the upper section of the mountain. At the beginning, the itinerary follows the municipal road reaching, beyond the radio beacon of the Italian Air Force, the houses situated in the south-eastern spurs of the town and on the slopes of Mt. Calamita. Therefore, we will have to share a stretch of our itinerary with a limited number of vehicles.

The road quickly climbs with panoramic views over the north-eastern slope of Elba Island and over the gulf of Mola.
