First meeting to jointly plan the future of eco-tourism at Circeo Park
An eco-tourism package in English for small groups of foreign visitors during the low season
(Sabaudia, 27 Mar 18) In Latium, Circeo National Park, together with Riviera di Ulisse Regional Park, has been selected as pilot area in the framework of the DestiMED project, funded by the European territorial cooperation programme Interreg-MED. Region Latium is project leader of this initiative, aimed at enhancing the environmental tourism potential of Mediterranean protected areas, by setting up an eco-tourism network based on standards of sustainable quality that are specifically studied, created and monitored.
After the launch of the initiative, a first operational meeting will take place on Wednesday, 4th April at 10am at Circeo National Park offices, to start the shared process by which the Park, local authorities and economic actors will design an eco-tourism product for the Circeo area - the so-called "package".
The purpose of the meeting is to start together this innovative eco-tourism network project, which could be a first step towards awareness in the use of territory, and help increase specific tourist flows off-season.
