The Marshes of Frederick II

Manfredonia

  • Trail Conditions: On foot

Feared and fought for centuries by man, Manfredonia wetlands - within Lago Salso Nature Sanctuary - have been rediscovered and are now safeguarded by Gargano National Park for their biodiversity and ecological importance. They are characterized by a marshy landscape, with a large canebrake important for the nesting of many bird species. During the tour, you might see hundreds of wild geese, gray herons, and egrets. The walk will continue in the nearby Frattarolo marsh, another ideal place for bird watching and naturalistic photography.
