A Dizzying Tour

Tour with snowshoes in Valle di Cogne

  • Trail Conditions: On foot
  • Interest: Wildlife, Panorama, Hystory
  • Departure: Parcheggio di Lillaz (Cogne)
  • Duration: 1 hour/s
  • Difference in height: 100m

Destination: Vallone di Valeille – Lillaz Waterfalls (ring-route)
Easy ring-route itinerary leaving from the car park in Lillaz and, following a farm road, giving the opportunity to face Vallone della Valeille, dominated by Sengie and Valeille glaciers.
From the car park, we will cross the village of Lillaz until you reach the campsites along the torrent. The farm road leaves from here and, after a few hairpin bends, you will find a detour marked by a sign leading to the waterfalls. This trail crosses the larch and spruce fir woodland populated by several squirrels and birds, and leads to the wonderful Lillaz waterfalls… As for any other woodland, it is recommended to cross it "gently": keeping quiet and walking slowly will give you the opportunity to sight one of the several roe deer or a squirrel looking for food, or the several tits living in this woodland during the winter. Thanks to the presence of snow, it will be easy to observe the traces left by the wildlife populating the woodland.
Once you reach the waterfalls, it is recommended to follow the large summer path running along torrent Urtier to go back to the town.

Main features:
- the characteristic architecture of the village of Lillaz
- the roche moutonnéee and the giant potholes of torrent Valeille
- paleo-landslide of Gran Clapey
- chamois in the debris flow cones of Valeille
- local cheese shops in Lillaz
