On Foot Among the Clouds

Colle del Nivolet... the Heart of Parco Nazionale Gran Paradiso
From 9th July to 27th August 2006

Nivolet is a wonderful plateau made of peatbogs and wetlands at 2500 meters of height, shaped by the meanders of the river Dora. It is the habitat of the Alpine ibex, of the chamois, and of marmots, ermines, foxes, permanent and migratory birds, and rare floristic species.
You can reach it on foot along the easy trails of Valsavarenche and by car from Ceresole Reale.
It has always been a destination for cyclists and hikers, and during the last years - especially on the summer Sundays - Nivolet used to be transformed in a large high-mountain parking area.
Since this use is not consistent with the Park's goals, a project has been activated: besides the traffic regulation, this project aims at the enhancement of the whole area through quality tourist proposals.
On Sundays from 9th July to 27th August 2006, the last six kilometers of the road are closed to the private car transit.
You can go along them on foot, by bike, or by shuttle bus. Without the air pollution and the noise of the cars, these environments become a real paradise with their landscape, fragrances, and colors which are in no way inferior to far destinations. You can get to Serrù Lake by your own car or by taking the shuttle bus leaving from Ceresole Reale, with many stops along the way.

Natura Montagna EDUCAZIONE AMBIENTALE

“Full immersion” courses and workshops of environmental education dedicated to young people in order to sensitize and stimulate them to understand, respect and love nature. Surrounded by the wonderful naturalistic context of the Parco Nazionale del Gran Paradiso, details on school issues for any cycle of study, managed by the Park Guides and by the teachers.

Natura Montagna RELAX

Wellness, health, and relax techniques in the protected area of the Parco Nazionale del Gran Paradiso. A healthy and relaxing environment, the ideal for soft activities, anti-stress activities, and to recover your own balance with nature.
